Dr. Leah SASHA HAWK, DOCTOR OF ACUPUNCT

Dr. Leah Sasha Hawk, D.Ac., L.Ac.

Dr. Leah Sasha Hawk holds a Doctorate in Acupuncture from Pacific College of Oriental Medicine, San Diego as well as being a Licensed Acupuncturist in New York State after graduating with a Master's Degree in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine from Swedish Institute in New York City.  Dr. Leah is Nationally Certified as a Diplomate with the NCCAOM as well as a member of Acupuncturists Without Borders, Acupuncture Society of New York, and the American Society of Acupuncturists.

Training and Experience

Dr. Leah trained in acupuncture, dietary therapy, sound, stones, essential oils,  and shamanism with her teacher, Master Jeffrey Yuen who is an 88th generation Daoist Doctor and Priest ordained in Jade Purity School, and the 26th generation Complete Reality School, Dragon Gate Sect .   Leah continues to attend yearly courses with Master Yuen as well as weekend seminars and is humbled to call herself a student of his profound and vast teachings in Classical Chinese medicine and wellness practices.

Philosophy of Care

Dr. Leah believes we are all “healing partners” and that we our deep inter-connectedness is greater than our differences. We are all looking to feel whole and to be seen.  Dr. Leah has found that most of us need healing from the inside out, are seeking more love in our lives, and are searching for a greater connection with all the beauty and perfection that surrounds us in the natural world.

Many, many years ago, Dr. Leah asked what seemed like a simple question, "What is spiritual medicine?" and many many years later she is still discovering this every day.  This inquiry continues to be a driving passion at Lifted Heart and we hope to connect with others who share this spark.

Moxabustion, or moxa / mugwart used to bring yang (warming, moving) energy to the body.   Moxa is safe, effective, and feels wonderful!  The impact of moxa can be felt immediately and is good for poor circulation,  pain which is stabbing or unrelenting pain, the sensation of cold or chills, as well as digestive and gynecological conditions.

Cupping and Gua Sha are two manual therapy techniques that increase blood flow and Qi circulation to an area which has pain or stiffness.  Leaving a temporary mark (you might have seen them on athletes and celebrities in the news!) the sensation of pain relief is well worth a blemish that resolves in just a few days.  Used to treat muscular-skeletal issues, especially good for chronic pain that seems to linger over time.

EFT and Lifestyle Coaching

Vibrational medicine is the heart of natural healing and Classical Chinese medicine.  Dr. Leah has studied how to apply stones and essential oils for health and healing in four years of continuing education courses with her teacher.  Dr. Leah is also passionate how sounds can heal and uses planetary tuning forks, Tibetan singing bowls, as well as gongs - particularly when patients are needle sensitive or phobic or would rather have a less invasive healing session.

EFT and Lifestyle Coaching

Emotional freedom technique, tapping, eft, lifestyle coaching, wellness, dr leah schwartz, verplanck

Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) or tapping is an energy psychology practice that helps people heal from emotional as well as physical trauma.  It's exceptionally powerful, can be done with very small children even remotely and is based loosely on the Chinese acupuncture points and their power to release areas where we are "stuck" in our lives.  Lifestlyle coaching is a part of every patient visit in terms of dietary counseling, sleep scheduling and stress management tips.  We all need support and Dr. Leah is here to deliver.
